The Story behind our name
We recently celebrated our 12th year in business!
This made me think back to our very beginnings and I thought I would share how Continuum Fitness came about.
John and I (Sarah) knew we wanted to open a business together. Everyone thought we were crazy! Our kids were 3 and 6 months when we first opened our doors. We worked long days with only part time child care and would trade off on caregiving and working. I’m really not sure how we did it back then but we have no regrets are are proud of how far we’ve come and our incredible team of experienced and caring practitioners.
We spent a while brainstorming ideas and I still remember that day. We were on a long drive to visit friends and both kids were asleep in the back (a rare occurrence if I remember correctly lol). We passed ideas back and forth but ultimately, John came up with the name. He’s the creative one in our partnership and mostly comes up with the great ideas. The idea of using the word Continuum resonated with us and made perfect sense. We had a vision of a space where we could help people get back to doing what they love, move well, perform to their fullest, whatever their chosen activities were. Wherever their starting point was, we would help them move forward along their health continuum. Our dream was to have a collaborative environment where multiple practitioners could work together to help others, all voices being respected and heard. Continuum Fitness and Movement Performance Inc. was born. We vowed to lead with integrity, compassion and professionalism.
Fast forward 12 years later and we’ve moved (again) into our perfect space. It’s bigger, brighter, and quieter with more parking and great energy. We feel so fortunate to have such an incredibly educated, experienced and excellent team! Madison, Patrick, Christen, Cailey, and Eleanor – thank you for being amazing practitioners, teammates and people! You all genuinely care and provide such a high level of care to our clients, we’re so grateful. Our former teammates were a bit part of our journey as well and we wish Jay, Sarah, Vero, Shannon and Graydon continued success in their endeavours!
Though John is no longer working directly with clients, I miss working closely with him (a lot!). He went back to school during Covid and changed careers. He’s happy welding big pipes and helping me behind the scenes. In John’s 22-year career as a Strength Coach, he helped a DOZEN athletes make it to the Olympic Games. He’s helped countless others get stronger, move better, and gain function and fitness all while striving to be the best coach through continuous education, collaboration, and care.
So, thank you to all of you who have supported us over the years. We appreciate your trust in us, your loyalty and support! We hope you have a chance to visit our new space (plants and decor still to come but here are a few pics of what we have so far). We look forward to helping you move forward along your health continuum for years to come!
