John is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Certified Personal Trainer (CSEP-CPT) through the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology. He has worked full time in the fitness industry for over thirteen years developing and implementing exercise programs for individuals and teams with varying abilities and needs. John has had the opportunity to work with athletes from a broad spectrum of sports, including those competing and performing at the national and professional levels. In addition to his work with athletes, John has provided fitness services to a number of active individuals who seek to regain and maintain a healthy active lifestyle.
Since 2009, John has actively volunteered in the capacity of youth fitness advisor for Impossible2Possible (impossible2possible.com), a not for profit organization with the mission of using the platform of adventure and technology to educate, inspire, and empower the global community to reach beyond their perceived limits and make positive change in the world.
In his role, John has developed several training programs to assist in preparing the youth ambassadors for the expeditions. Additionally, John has acted as a guide for the Baffin Island, Tunisia and Bolivia running expeditions, and looks forward to guiding in upcoming expeditions.
For over eighteen years, John has trained for and has competed in a variety of disciplines of endurance sport. After entering a three-day multi-sport adventure race with his brother and friends, he was hooked. For the next several years John has pushed his endurance limits in a multitude of sports, including: Triathlon (Olympic Distance to Ironman Distance), Bike Racing (Road), Adventure Racing (Multi-Sport), Cross-Country Skiing, and Ultra running.
